Johnson & Johnson Unveils INHANCE INTACT Shoulder Replacement System in U.S
The new tissue-sparing system enables day-one post-op mobility, enhances joint visualization, and supports outpatient surgery as shoulder replacements grow 7.3% annually.

Johnson & Johnson MedTech, a global leader in orthopaedic technologies and solutions, announced the U.S. launch of INHANCE INTACT™, a proprietary complete instrumentation system specifically developed for subscapularis-sparing total shoulder arthroplasty1 (TSA), empowering surgeons to replace a damaged shoulder joint while keeping the shoulder muscle intact.
Each year, more than 100,000 Americans undergo TSA2 to treat degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis and rotator cuff tears. While effective, the traditional TSA deltopectoral approach often requires detachment of the subscapularis tendon, a key muscle at the front of the shoulder that has been linked to post-operative pain, instability, and tendon failure.4,5 As a result, patients often face up to six weeks of post-operative immobilization.4 The tissue-sparing approach achieved with INHANCE INTACT™ instrumentation allows surgeons to perform shoulder replacement procedures with enhanced joint visualization.1 Moreover, this approach enables patient shoulder movement as early as day one post-op.6* This faster rehabilitation supports the shift toward outpatient, minimally invasive care and makes INHANCE INTACT™ ideal for Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
