igus has introduced the drylin SLW-0620-Ds08, a compact linear module with lead screw drive designed to deliver stroke lengths of up to 300 mm in space-constrained automation systems. The module targets applications in medical technology, laboratory automation, and equipment manufacturing where long travel, smooth motion, and strict hygiene requirements must be combined in a small installation envelope.
The miniature linear module measures 22 mm in height and 32 mm in width, making it suitable for compact automation systems such as laboratory robots with moving pipetting heads. Despite its small size, the system achieves travel speeds of up to 200 mm/s, enabled by a dryspin® high-helix lead screw with a 40 mm pitch per revolution. A lead screw diameter of 8 mm was selected to maintain stiffness and ensure smooth, stable motion over long strokes.
The module supports a maximum static axial load of 50 N and a radial load of 200 N. Laboratory testing has demonstrated a service life of 877,000 double strokes at a load of 30 N, indicating suitability for repetitive positioning tasks in automated environments.
To meet hygiene and contamination control requirements, the SLW-0620-Ds08 operates completely without lubrication. Motion is guided by plain bearings made from high-performance polymer materials, eliminating grease that can attract contaminants in clean or sensitive environments. All bearing points use iglidur JPF, a PTFE-free material tested for PFAS, supporting compliance with current and potential future regulatory requirements.
The drylin SLW-0620-Ds08 is available in silver anodised and black anodised variants and is designed to integrate into compact automation systems requiring long travel distances, low maintenance, and reliable dry operation.
